The Federal Executive Council has approved the contract for the 215mw Kaduna Power Plant which is expected to be completed next year.
In essence the council has corrected procurement and implementation defects as well as lack of budget support for the project which started in 2009.
The Ministry of Budget and National Planning also indicated its readiness to rollout the National Social Investment programmes.
Nigeria hopes to generate 30, 000 megawatts of electricity by the 2030 is on course with a large part of it coming from diversifying the sources of power generation towards renewable energy.
With a target of sourcing 30 percent of the power mix from solar energy, stakeholders are advocating for more investments to achieve the objective.
