The senate says it will sanction any electricity distribution company that generates less than 240 volts of power.
Chairman Senate Committee on Privatization, Ben Murray-Bruce stated this during the committee's oversight function to a distribution company in Abuja.
Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum Upstream, Gershom Bassey believes the passage of the Petroleum Industry Governance Bill will address the issue of inconsistent policies in the sector.
Speaking at the end of the three day public hearing on the bill in Abuja, Senator Bassey said the senate will expedite the work of the committee in order to make sure that the PIB is signed, and made effective for the benefit of the Nigerian public.
The bill also establishes the process for breaking the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation into two commercial entities which will be limited by share.
