A teenager, Jack Sweeney from Florida, has rejected a $5,000 offer from CEO of Tesla motors, Elon Musk to delete his Twitter account that tracks the private jet of the entrepreneur.
Sweeney has developed a bot that ElonJet, with over 150,000 followers uses to monitor Musk’s flights,CNN reports.
One interesting thing about the feed is that it tweets out when and where the plane takes off or lands and the duration of each trip.
Part of the feat of the college freshman was that he developed about a dozen other flight bot accounts that track the travels of high-profile tech personalities like Bill Gates, Jeff Bezos and others.
A message which was direct from Musk came November 30, which protocol first reported. Musk asked Sweeney,
“Can you take this down?”, “It’s a security risk.”
Musk eventually offered the teenager $5,000 to help prevent “crazy people” from tracking his flights.
Sweeney rather asked for $50,000, countering the initial amount, and stressing on the reasons he increased the amount.
One of the reasons he gave was that he could use the money for college and maybe a Tesla (TSLA) Model 3.
