French Minister Says He Will Not Pay for Twitter’s Blue Checkmark

Olivier Veran French minister and government spokesman on Sunday said he would not pay Twitter’s $7.99 a month fee for account verification and that he had concerns about the ambitions of the social media platform’s new owner Elon Musk.

‘’I invite them to decertify my account without delay if they consider that this is something that one has to start paying for,” Veran told France 3 television.

Elon Musk, the new owner of the microblogging platform Twitter on Tuesday announce via his twitter handle that the social media platform will begin to charge verified users $8 monthly.

Many users took twitter to complain about the new development but this did not help as Elon confirmed their complains will not change the decision he twitted “To all complainers, please continue complaining, but it will cost $8’’.
