Millions of people view Trump’s counter-programming during the debate on X

Former President Donald Trump gained millions of viewers who watched – or at least scrolled by – a competing interview on social media platform X on Wednesday after choosing to skip a Republican primary discussion on Fox News.

According to statistics on the website formerly known as Twitter, the 46-minute conversation with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson attracted more than 74 million views.

However, it is unknown how long website users viewed the pre-recorded event. View numbers for X include both those who watched the entire interview and those who scrolled past the video or only for a brief period of time. Some viewers might have had their viewing counts doubled if they watched the movie on a different device or at a different time.

Just a few minutes before the Wednesday night debate on Fox, Carlson posted the interview.

Trump, who has argued with Fox News over what he has deemed unfavorable coverage, told Carlson that “we’ll get bigger ratings using this crazy forum that you are using than probably the debate.”

On Thursday, information regarding the number of people who watched the Fox debate is anticipated.

Trump is the front-runner for the Republican presidential candidacy in 2024 after losing the 2020 election to Democrat Joe Biden. After Fox News terminated Carlson’s top-rated program in April as a result of a disastrous defamation lawsuit over erroneous allegations of election fraud, Carlson is attempting to regain his audience.

Since June, he has regularly posted interviews on X.

Trump said Carlson, “I think getting rid of you was a terrible mistake.
